Summary of project status and achievements:
This month, the Outreach Health & Well-Being Workshop continued 4-days a week at Road 29. Fifteen women are learning knitting, fifteen women are learning sewing, and all are learning Reproductive Health/Childcare & Nutrition/Sexual and Gender-based Violence. The workshop is expected to end in late June and the graduation ceremony is tentatively planned for June 27th.
The existing savings circles are all running well. The Road-44 and Block H Savings Circles are still not running on a regular basis, but the Women’s Centre staff travel to these centers often to check on the women. They all maintain that they will have more time following harvest. Some women are still worried about repatriation, so the Women’s Centre staff has decided not to push them into the Savings Circle but only to make the possibility available if they decide to proceed.
Future activities and projections:
The PM and the staff are now examining different sites for the next 8-week Outreach that will most probably begin in mid-July. The PM has decided to keep Dinah at half-time for the remainder of June and then promote her to full-time in July so that she can be trained in the Outreach curriculum while either Annita or Jacqui stays at Women’s Centre to teach shorter workshops and offer informal counseling.
