Blog From the Field

Meheba Scholarship Fund - March 2010

Summary of project status and achievements:

This month the students wrote their promotional and midterm exams and reported that they did well. The teachers reported that their conduct in class was excellent.

Bartho dedicated a lot of time to work with the students in preparation for their exams. Time will tell if his hard work pays off. Progress towards Coordinator’s goals/Trends from indicators

Future activities and goals:

Both Paul and Christmas are boarding at Meheba High School during the April break. Paul has requested tutoring from the Site Managers with his physics course and hopes this can be accomplished during the break.

Wishes or requests:

None.

Substantial problems or issues:

A highly anticipated poetry program was canceled due to Jess’ extended time in Lusaka. The program, carried over from Sherrie, required the students to memorize a poem, recite it to the group and talk about what it meant to them.

FEF is doing fine and in the last month we had few events. The students went on break and they just came back to school in January. The students were all happy to start their new semester.

We received the report forms for the students and the results are good. The good news again is that one of our students was the best in school in the term that just ended. We just wish the students good luck in their new semester.

Meheba Scholarship Fund Project Coordinator Blog - November 2009

In the past month we didn’t have a lot of activities in the project because it was the month that the pupils are ever busy with revisions, studies and exams.

One of the pupils, the grade 12 student by the name of Florence, has graduated. We organized a graduation ceremony for her. We called the other sponsored students to enjoy it with her and on of her teachers. The party was so good and we all wished her all the best in her life.

And one of our students went for a quiz competition in Solwezi to compete with all the other schools in the district and he became the best in all the schools. Meheba high school was awarded first place. He was awarded a t-shirt for participating as well.

Generally, the students are all doing fine.

FEF is doing fine as usual. In the past month the students were busy learning, revising, and studying at school. As you know this is the last semester in the year, so the students are advised to work extremely hard because the exams are always hard in the last semester.

In the last month I concentrated much in mathematics and sciences and the students are doing fine. For the grade 12’s they have already begun writing their final exams and one of our students by the name of Florence seems to be doing fine in the papers that she has already written.

This is all about FEF.

FORGE Education Fund is doing fine. In the past month that is when the pupils began school for the third term. We paid for their school fees on the opening day and all of the students reported to school on time.

We also received school report forms fir the students in the same past month. Generally the students did well in the last semester and one of them got the highest marks in the school. He was actually the best in the school. We also showed them a movie pertaining to their poetry activity. They all like the movie because it was so exciting. This is all we had in the past month.

The project is doing fine and in the past month the pupils where doing fine. It is the same month that the students where preparing for their end of term exams. During their beginning of the break, I went to pick up the deaf students from Solwezi where they are studying and they are all doing fine physically and academically.

This time the pupils are all on break and we are waiting for their report forms. The schools will be opened on the 7th of September, 2009. This is all about FEF in the past month.
